The Panchayat Secretary is the chief official responsible for managing the administrative and office affairs of the Grama Panchayat. The Secretary’s primary duty is to coordinate the documentation, financial procedures, and administrative activities required for the efficient functioning of the Panchayat administration.
Main Responsibilities of the Panchayat Secretary
Supervise the day-to-day administrative functions of the Panchayat office
Prepare and maintain the minutes and records of Panchayat meetings
Assist in the implementation of government orders and development schemes
Maintain tax collection records, financial documents, and accounts
Coordinate services such as birth and death registration and issuance of licenses
Support the Panchayat President and the governing committee in administrative matters
Safely maintain official records and files
Receive and process public applications and complaints and take necessary action
